A Scientific Evaluation of Tehran University with Emphasis on Scientific Cooperation inside and outside the Country

Abstract

The aim of this study was to review scientific publications of Tehran University with emphasis on scientific cooperation inside and outside the country from 2004 to 2014.
The study was conducted in an applied research structure with a scientometric trend. Statistics production consists of scientific productions indexed in the Scopus database, which have been written by researchers in Tehran University from 2004 to 2014.
The results indicatedthat 13307 researchers have contributed to the scientific production of Tehran University by compiling 27804 scientific documents from 2004 to 2014. Most of their publications were in the form of research articles and the least were in form of research reports. Other findings included a growing trend in the scientific production of this university in 2014 compared to 2004. The greatest cooperation in the Scopus database refers to engineering and agricultural fields, respectively.
The research findings revealed that the common authorship among Tehran University and other significant world universities and Iranian high educational institutes, not only has a role in the growing production of Tehran University, but also represents the acceptable level of cooperation in this university, approving its academic standing.
