The Role of Public Private Partnerships in Innovation Policy

Abstract

In recent years, researcher have considered public- private partnerships (PPP) as one of the policy tools to develop science and innovation because of its capacity and benefits to meet the social obligations of government, for example, in construction, developing infrastructures, electricity networks and urban spaces, as well as to help private sector in financing and market accessing. This paper reviews the history and literature of the formation of technological PPP as well as the models and research on the role and effects of the policy in meeting the goals of innovation policy. Finally, it concludes, a variety of technological PPPs in different contexts have different impacts on innovation policy goals.
