The effect of immigration on scientific outputs: A case study of Iranian researchers in the ISI database

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of immigration on scientific outputs among Iranian researchers in the period of 2001-2013. This study is survey type with citation analysis and webometrics approach. Also the population in this study, 7,000 of the Iranian authors which have articles in ISI. According to Morgan table about 400 authors were studied for sampling. The results showed that half of the Iranian migrants between are active Iran and abroad. Also most Iranian migrants were men that have launched immigration to America from academic centers. Other findings also state that the quality growth of the productions is not related with the quantitative growth of them among migrants. Accordingly, it is recommended to politicians that move the migration flows for the benefit of the origin country and increase the quality and quantity of scientific production.
