This study aims to provide a systematic review and knowledge mapping of the literature on green transition governance, identifying dominant conceptual patterns, evolutionary trajectories, and key research gaps in this field. Given the complex, multi-level, and socio-technical nature of the green transition, its governance has gained increasing importance as a macro-level framework for aligning policies, financial mechanisms, technological innovations, and societal actors. The study adopts a bibliometric and scientometric approach. Data were retrieved from the Web of Science database, and 538 articles published between 2010 and 2025 were analyzed after initial screening using Bibliometrix/Biblioshiny software. The analysis included keyword co-occurrence, co-word network mapping, word cloud visualization, thematic mapping based on centrality and density indices, and the examination of thematic evolution over different time periods. The findings indicate that the literature on green transition governance is primarily structured around three main pillars: financial–institutional, technological–digital, and sectoral–territorial. Most studies emphasize regulatory policies, financial instruments, and technological innovation, with concepts such as green finance, ESG, and digital transformation occupying a central position. Furthermore, the dominance of firm-level analyses, quasi-experimental methods, and a strong geographical focus on China reflects a largely instrument-oriented approach to studying the green transition, in which institutional and social implications remain underexplored. In contrast, governance dimensions in their institutional and procedural sense, including multi-level governance, institutional capacity, stakeholder participation, and considerations of social justice and just transition, receive comparatively limited attention. Accordingly, future research should strengthen governance-oriented, participatory, and justice-based approaches to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the pathways and outcomes of the green transition.
